Privacy policy
Last updated 24 October 2026. Draft, not yet reviewed by a lawyer; not legal advice.
This policy covers two things: the PlatePace iOS app, and this website with its waitlist. The short version: the app keeps your food, training and weight data on your phone, we have no account system, and we don’t run ads or track you across other apps and sites.
The iOS app
Stays on your device
Your profile (such as age, height, sex and goal, used to estimate targets), food entries, training sessions, weight entries and settings are stored locally on your iPhone. They are not uploaded to us, and there is no PlatePace account. If your iPhone backs up apps to iCloud or a computer, that backup is handled by Apple under your own settings and is not accessible to us.
Purchases and subscription status
- Apple processes all payments. We never see your card details, name or Apple ID email.
- RevenueCat, our subscription service provider, receives a random anonymous app user id generated on your device, your purchase receipts from Apple, and basic technical data (app version, device type, country/storefront) so it can tell the app whether your subscription is active. It does not receive your name, email address or any of your food, training or weight data.
Crash reports
If the app crashes or hits an error, a report is sent to Sentry, our error-monitoring provider: the technical error and stack trace, device model, iOS version and app version. It is configured not to send personal data: no name, email, IP address or your logged entries.
What the app does not do
- No advertising, and no ad or tracking SDKs.
- No tracking across other companies’ apps or websites, and no data sold or shared with data brokers.
- No access to Apple Health, contacts, location, camera or photos in this version.
Deleting app data
Open the app and go to Settings > Delete all data. Because the data only exists on your device, this removes it permanently; deleting the app does the same. We cannot recover it for you. To have the anonymous subscription record at RevenueCat deleted, contact us (below) from the app’s support screen so we can find the anonymous id.
This website and the waitlist
- Waitlist signup: your email address and, if you choose, your main sport. Used only to tell you when a test build opens.
- Where you came from (only if you accept the banner): UTM tags in the link you used, the hostname of the site that referred you, the type of ad click id present (for example “gclid”; the id value itself is never read or kept), and the first page you landed on. It is saved once in your browser’s local storage and sent with your signup. If you decline, or your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, none of this is stored or sent.
- Page analytics: we use Umami, a cookieless analytics tool, to count page views, referring sites and a “waitlist signup” event (which form was used, never your email). It sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and does not build a profile of you, so it runs without asking through the banner. It honours Do Not Track.
- Error reports: site errors are reported to Sentry with the same settings as the app: no cookies, form contents, IP address or email.
- Server logs: standard request logs (IP address, user agent) kept by our hosting for security and rate limiting.
No advertising or cross-site tracking, no analytics cookies, and nothing sold or shared for marketing.
Who processes data for us
- Apple (App Store payments and app distribution)
- RevenueCat (subscription status, app only)
- Sentry (error and crash reports)
- Umami (cookieless page analytics, website only)
- Our website hosting provider (serving the site, storing the waitlist)
Retention
Waitlist entries are kept until the test build period ends, then deleted unless you have asked us to keep you informed. Error reports are kept by Sentry for its standard retention period (typically 90 days). App data stays on your device until you delete it.
Your choices and rights
- Change your attribution choice any time with the link at the bottom of every page.
- Ask us for a copy of, or deletion of, your waitlist entry by contacting us. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK or California) you may have further rights, such as to object or to complain to a data protection authority.
Children
PlatePace is meant for adults 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new date.
